A QR code is just a machine-readable encoding of a URL (or other text). What separates a useful QR tool from a throwaway one is customization, export quality, and whether the codes stay scannable after you brand them. MiniLy's generator covers all three, and—unusually—it is unlimited on every plan, including Free.
The straight version: the QR codes MiniLy produces are static. The image encodes whatever URL you give it, and that image never expires. The codes themselves do not change after you download them. What gives you flexibility is pointing a QR code at a MiniLy short link—then you can change the link's destination later without reprinting the code.
You do not even need an account to use the public generator. Sign up (free) only when you want to save codes or track scans.
You enter a URL, then style the code in a live preview before downloading. The customization is genuinely deep—over 36 options across several categories:
Export is available in PNG, SVG, JPG, and WebP, all free. MiniLy applies a high error-correction level so branded codes—including ones with a center logo—stay reliably scannable across mainstream phone cameras.
QR codes bridge the physical and digital worlds with a single scan:
If the code points at a MiniLy short link, every scan counts as a click—so you get the same real-time location and device analytics as any other link. For print, download SVG: it scales from a business card to a billboard without quality loss.
What MiniLy QR codes are not: they are static image files. There is no separate "dynamic QR" product where the code itself stores a redirect you toggle—the redirect flexibility comes from pointing the code at a short link, which means it inherits the short link's plan limits (notably the 5-link lifetime cap on Free if you want trackable codes).
The generator also does not produce non-URL QR types out of the box (such as vCard, Wi-Fi, or payment codes)—it encodes the URL you provide. There is no public API to generate codes programmatically and no white-label option. Scan analytics depend on using a MiniLy short link as the target; a QR code pointing directly at an external URL is not tracked by MiniLy. For most marketing and signage needs this is plenty, but if you need bulk programmatic generation or specialty QR types, look elsewhere.
