The honest distinction worth making up front: a custom alias changes the text after the slash and is free on every plan. A custom domain changes minily.org itself to your own domain and is a Pro feature. They are complementary—combine both for a fully branded URL—but only the alias is free.

There is no inflated claim here. A readable alias gives people context before they click and signals legitimacy. We do not promise a specific click-rate increase, because that depends on your audience and content.

When you create a link, you type your preferred alias into the backhalf field instead of accepting the auto-generated code. That is the whole feature—no separate workflow.

• Allowed characters: letters (a–z, A–Z), numbers (0–9), hyphens, and underscores. Spaces and special characters are not allowed.
• Case sensitivity: aliases are case-sensitive, so /Sale and /sale are different links.
• Uniqueness: each alias must be unique across the platform. If your first choice is taken, MiniLy tells you immediately so you can try a variation.
• With a custom domain (Pro): you can reuse an alias another user has on minily.org, because your domain already makes the full URL unique.

The real constraints: on Free, you can give each of your links a custom alias, but you are still capped at 5 links total for life—so you get 5 branded links, not unlimited. Going beyond that needs Pro.

Aliases live in a shared global namespace on the default domain, so popular words get taken; you may need a variation unless you are on a custom domain. The character set is restricted (no spaces or special characters), and case sensitivity can trip people up if they retype a link with the wrong capitalization. Finally, an alias only changes the text after the slash—if you want your own domain in front of it, that is a separate Pro feature, and there is no public API to reserve or bulk-create aliases programmatically.
